What's New This Week...

Ron Base will be here for the last time this season on Wednesday, April 18th.  He'll be signing his popular Sanibel Sunset Detective Series and chatting with fans beginning at 10 a.m!


Thursday, April 19th we'll be be hosting our island book club beginning at 6 p.m.  If you've read the Alice Network by Kate Quinn you are welcome to join us.  We're an informal and diverse group and lots of fun!


Other upcoming events include-

April 24th from 4-6 is our monthly cookbook open house (food, discounts & fun!)

April 26th from 5-6:30 we'll celebrate 50/50 day with wine, cheese, discounts & a raffle prize

April 28th from 9-5 it's Independent Bookstore Day!  Join us for discounts, limited edition IBD items and a whole bunch of activities for the whole family!

Meditation clinic with Barbara Ward

 Saturday April 14th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a. m.

Barbara P Ward, psychotherapist and Senior Kripalu Yoga Teacher  believes that there is too much hype and too many myths about Meditation. She has been sharing her “ practice” with her students at The Yoga Connection in Massachusetts for over 20 years. She says “We can be mindful every day and every way if we choose to do so. Intention, attention, moment to moment,  breath by breath”. Come especially if you tried to meditate and feel you failed or come if you just want to try it for the first time. Leave your expectations at the door and best of all, It’s FREE.

We'll be celebrating our 58th Birthday.  That's right, 58!! and we hope you can join us. We'll be serving cake and coffee from 11-5. 

Local author, Jennifer Schiff will be celebrating with us and signing her new, locally set, cozy mystery titled  A Shell of a Problem.


Thursday, March 29th

Local author Ron Base of the Sanibel Sunset Detective series fame will be joining us from 11-4 to sign his books and chat with fans.  They'll be cookies, of course!


Book Club @6 p.m.

We'll be discussing this month's selection, Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton .  Hope to see you there!


What's Happening This Week

We'll be selling books for the fabulous Mary Alice Monroe when she appears at the Community House this Tuesday, March 6th.  This is a ticketed event sponsored by the Sanibel Public Library.  If you'd like a personalized book we'd be happy to have one signed for you.  Call 239-472-1447 to place your order.


Rosalie Masella will be in the shop on Tuesday, March 6th from 11-1 signing her two wonderful children's books.  I Am a Manatee, Yes I Am!  and the Adventures of Dingle Dee and Lingle Dee.  A portion of the proceeds from book sales benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.  Both books are beautifully illustrated, of local interest and make a great gift or souvenir!  


Gary McLouth will be here on Wednesday, March 7th from 11-1 signing his latest book of poetry titled the Time We Make in Passing.  Gay is an adjunct professor in the English Dept. of FSW, participates in poetry slams, is part of the Gulf Coast Writers Association, The Lee County Alliance for the Arts, and the Sanibel Writers.  He also does free-lance writing and editing on a variety of prose projects.  Stop in and chat about all things writing with Gary and the Mac staff.

Art Walk in the River District.  Join us at the "Mini-Mac" in the Franklin Shops for books and conversation from 6-9.

And, last but not least, we have selected our March book club pick, Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton.  Copies can be purchased in shop and our next meeting will be March 29th at 6 p.m. We hope you can join us!
